Thistle seeds disperse, puffs of white fuzz carried zigzag in beaks of chickadees. At stream edge, yellowed bracken ferns wrinkle, a frog bastes on warm stones, bumblebees needle pollen in joe-pye weed. As the sun hems closer in the moon of falling leaves, light shrinks until the earth changes her skirt for October. |
